Professional mulch installation
Beds that look finished, not just covered
Old mulch fades, thins out, and stops holding back weeds. GMX clears the bed, cuts the edge back to a clean line, and lays fresh mulch at a depth that works, keeping you informed from the estimate through the final cleanup.
- Mulch supplied, delivered, and spread
- Beds cleaned and weeded first
- Crisp, hand-cut bed edges
- Shrubs and flowers planted on request
- Even depth that holds moisture without smothering roots
When to call GMX
When beds need mulch
Faded, thinned-out mulch
Last season’s mulch greys out and breaks down. A fresh layer brings back the color and the protection underneath.
Weeds coming through
A thin layer lets weeds straight through. We pull them first, then lay a depth that actually holds them back.
Edges gone soft
Grass creeps in and the bed loses its shape. We cut the edge back so the line reads clean from the street.
Simple process
From first call to a finished bed
Request an estimate
Tell us how many beds, roughly the size, and whether you want plants put in as well.
On-site assessment
We measure the beds to work out the yardage, and check what is planted and what has to come out first.
Clean, edge & mulch
Our crew weeds the bed, cuts the edge, spreads the mulch to an even depth, and blows the hard surfaces clean.

Mulch Installation — Common Questions
How much does mulch installation cost?
Pricing depends on the square footage of the beds, how much mulch they need, and the prep work involved. GMX provides a free estimate based on the specific property and job.
How deep should the mulch be?
Two to three inches is the sweet spot. Deeper than that holds too much water against the stems and starves the roots of air, which is a common mistake.
Are estimates free?
Yes. Estimates are free and come with no obligation.
How much mulch do I need?
For most beds, a layer of two to three inches does the job. Thicker than that holds too much moisture against roots and can keep water from reaching the soil. We measure the beds and calculate the volume as part of the estimate.
Do you remove the old mulch first?
Usually there is no need — old mulch breaks down and feeds the soil. If the existing layer is already thick, matted or growing fungus, we will recommend pulling some out before adding new.
When is the best time to mulch?
Spring is the most common, after the soil has warmed and the first weeds are pulled. A lighter fall application also helps protect roots through the winter.
Does mulch stop weeds?
It suppresses them considerably by blocking light, but it is not a guarantee. Edging the beds cleanly and pulling existing weeds before mulching makes a much bigger difference than mulch depth alone.
What kind of mulch do you install?
There are several options in colour and material. Tell us what look you want and where the beds are, and we will go over what suits the site.
