Lawn Mowing — Common Questions
How much does lawn mowing cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the lot, the slope, how much trimming and edging the property needs, and how easy it is to get equipment in. GMX gives a free estimate based on the specific property.
Do you mow commercial properties?
Yes. We mow residential and commercial properties, including rentals, small business lots, and multi-unit buildings.
What happens to the grass clippings?
By default the clippings are mulched back into the lawn, which returns nutrients to the soil and is better for the grass. If you want the clippings bagged and hauled off the property, we can do that on request and it is quoted separately.
How tall is too tall to mow?
Almost nothing is too tall for us, but very overgrown grass may need more than one pass, and the first cut costs more than a regular one. Tell us roughly how tall it is when you request the estimate and we will price it correctly.
Are estimates free?
Yes. Estimates are free and come with no obligation.
Do you do one-time cuts or only regular service?
Both. Some customers book a single cut after a stretch of neglect or before an event; others prefer regular visits through the season. Tell us which you want and we will quote accordingly.
What is included in a mow?
We cut, trim the edges along walkways and beds, and blow the clippings off hard surfaces so the yard looks finished rather than just cut.
How often should a lawn be mowed?
Through the growing season, most New England lawns do best on a weekly cut. Every two weeks works in slower months, but letting grass get very long means removing too much at once, which stresses it.
Do I need to be home?
No, as long as we can reach the yard and any gates are unlocked. Let us know about pets, sprinkler heads or anything else we should watch for.
What happens if it rains on my service day?
We shift the visit rather than cut a soaked lawn, which tears the grass and leaves ruts. Heavy rain weeks can push the schedule by a day or two.
